Recently, I've started a pixel mini series of looking at household appliances in a different way. I meant for these to be funny, in a slightly dark manner, I didn't know one of them would be considered particularly offensive! To advertise my art, I posted it across several forums as well as submitting a threadless design after =dizzia suggested it to me. The deviantart community received it well however, others not so much. Here are some of the comments.

It's offensive because it's obviously trying to make light of the suffering that happened at the concentration camps.
As in: being forced to walk in lines until collapsing and put into furnaces to be burned alive. I realize this designer is still young—only 18—but she should know that attempting to capitalize on others suffering is bad enough, but then trying to make it funny at the same time is just sick."

I never meant this as a political statement or promote hatred. It's history, it's in the past. It's not to tease those who had died or depict something horrible in a cute way to make it seem okay. It's all a matter of how you choose to see it. I choose to see it as toast burning one of their own kind, for a difference you cannot even see in the piece. Using toast and a toaster, it makes it seem trivial and the viewer laugh at why they would do this. The fact that it's cute is just how I draw and the fact that it's toast.

So what do you guys think? Is it bad taste? Is it too early for this?

I thought this generation lived off offensive humour such as South Park and Family Guy. Apparently I crossed a line which personally insulted others and was done in just pure bad taste.
