Calling all teenagers on dA!
How tired are you of the same old misconceptions everyone over forty seems to have about our generation? A teenager wearing a hoodie – oh my goodness, they must terrorise old ladies in their spare time! They must be obsessed with binge drinking, drug-taking and having sex because, that’s just what teenagers do. They must carry many different forms of knives with them, because they’re young and they think it makes them hard, and gives them a false sense of security.
Sound familiar?
Here’s your chance to prove otherwise (:
A while ago there was all this crazy-talk about some percentage of teenagers carrying a form of weapon with them wherever they go (mostly knives). This led people to believe all teenagers do the same thing.
Now we know that’s a load of bull.
But prove it!

If you are a teenager, and you are tired of being referred to as the corrupted/damaged/terrorising/*insert condescending word here* youth, I want you to make a deviation showing me what you actually carry in your pocket/holdall/suitcase/handbag/body-bag/whatever. Make it as imaginative as possible! You can take a picture, create a digital painting or a photo-manipulation, you can: draw it, paint it, sketch it, or even write about it – that’ll be interesting actually – point is, it doesn’t matter! Just do it! (: It can be the truth i.e. what you actually do carry, or a white lie for the sake of art I won’t tell anyone (:

Stuck for ideas?
Okay, well it could be something important to you, or something that interests you. Your wallet, with a picture of someone in it, or whatever. A lucky charm. A mascot. A paintbrush. A camera. Your favourite CD. A tube of henna. You get the idea? Whatever floats your boat. If you like, tell me the story behind it – in fact I would prefer if you did. But don’t worry if you’re not a person of words, I won’t give those with wordy descriptions credit for it. It’d just be nice you know? (:

When you have your wondrous creations, upload them (obviously) and say in the description that it is for the Pocket Weapons competition held by me. If you don’t know how to link someone, it’s just :dev*insertusername*: and then obviously change the *insertusername* to the username of whoever it is you want to link. For an icon link, replace the :dev part with :icon and you’re good to go Note me with a thumbnail of the deviation, or comment me with a link, whichever you prefer. The deviation can be something you have uploaded before, obviously as long as it is relevant.

There will be three winners – one overall winner and two runner-ups. If something especially jumps out at me apart from that, I’ll probably add another winner – cause I can’t make rules and stick to them lol

The winners of this competition will be featured in a news article as well as in my journal for oh let’s see…a month. If you like, I’ll feature the same thing every time I post a journal, or I’ll choose something from your gallery to feature. Or you can choose what you want featured, it’s completely up to you. If I find your gallery scintillating, I’ll probably :+watch: you as well, but that’s not part of this haha.

The deadline is 31st of July so get creating this summer ^^

Oh and yes, I will be the sole judge. Perhaps my sister will help me – unless of course she wants to enter, in which case it’ll be me, all aloney on my owney.
