Welcome to this week’s volume of so we heard you liek emotes. This is the 38th volume in a weekly series aimed towards promoting emote and emoticonists from the dA community. It features emotes posted within the past week from both well known and new emoticonists, as well as featuring some other great emote projects and contests.

Featured Emoticons:

The concept behind Spectrum of Emotes by *priteeboy is jawdroppingly good and the animation has been made to match. The use of colour and expressions is second to none and the splitting effect has also been made to an amazing pixelling standard.

2.
:i leik teleporting plz: by =Kermodog is another brilliant emote posted this week. The animation is fluent throughout and details such as the door movement and teleportation animation really shine out.

3.
Everything in Hot-air balloon emote by =MixedMilkChOcOlate just fits extremely well together. The pixelling and animation, especially delayed movements is exceptional and the different expressions used just makes it a great emote to sit and watch.

4.
It's always amazing to see how different people can include common items within emotes. =Sinister-Starfeesh has done a great job with PodTard. The iPod looks brilliant and the way the emote interacts and dances to it is nicely done.

5.
What i love about :OverInternetGlomp: by =MenInASuitcase is it overcomes the issue of glomping online friends. The pixelling and shading are done well and the concept has been executed in a cute and amusing manner.

Legend Emotes

I came across a rather shocking fact the other day. Did you know the original bucktooth emote only has 34 faves and less than 1500 views. After seeing how passionate you guys were about some emoticons on the legend, it's kinda surprising that an emoticon which is used thousands of times a day on the site has so little exposure. The main reason for this is probably how difficult it is to find the original emotes. The legend currently doesn't really make it easy to find the originals.

Therefore for this news article i decided to hunt out the originals of some much loved emotes from the legend. I'm also sticking the number of faves (when i wrote the article) that each have. I'm not saying you must go fave them, or even view them, but it is a reminder that all emoticons are art, and just because they are on the legend, it doesn't change that.

Featured Projects

After last week's lull, we had a number of projects launched this week

Trampoline Project



The trampoline project is a great new project hosted by *doubleyou-tee-eff. To enter simply make a bouncing emote to be added to the background. There aren't many entries so far, so it would be nice to see a few more people participate

MS Paint Project



One of the mistakes made about emoticons is that you need a fancy program to be able to make them. The MS paint project is looking to full itself with emotes made only in the program. So if you don't have a different program, or want to challenge yourself to make one, go check it out.

CD rack Project



The CD rack project is a nice little project. The theme is a CD rack holder and to enter you need to design a CD cover. As all entries must be static it's easy to enter, so if you're interested, definitely take a look.

- `LeoLeonardo posted his next issue of A Chance to Shine featuring new and upcoming emoticonists. It you haven't already seen it, you can check it out here

- The winners of the latest Opus contest were announced in this journal.

- For those that use wordpress and are unhappy with the default emotes, `sml-e has created a set of updated emoticons for use and is looking for some beta testers. If you're interested, check out his journal here

- Next week will mark our 9 month anniversary of So i herd u liek emotes. This is a massive achievement and i hope you continue to support it

- On a sadder note, I am unsure if so i herd u liek emotes will be released next week, as i leave for NZ next sunday. I will try and send it out a day early, but if it's not released this will unfortunately be the last volume until i return
