Man Ray: An Artist Any Designer Could Love

~renacer9:iconrenacer9: reports, November 14
Man Ray has one of the coolest names in the history of art. However, he was born Emmanuel Radnitzky. He rejected his birth name moved to Paris in 1921 and became the sole American in the vanguard of Parisian Modernism. This transformation represented a conflicted identity and his deep desire to escape the limitations of his Russian Jewish past.

Tribute to Michael Jackson

=magnusti78:iconmagnusti78: reports, July 2
Michael Joseph Jackson, born in Gary, Indiana, in 29.8.1958, was one of the most influential and gifted artists of our time. He was more than just a singer, he was a phenomenon, breaking boundaries and healing the world when others were just interested in money and success.
Starting his singing career as young as 4 years old and getting famous together with a band formed with his brothers, The Jackson 5, at the age of eleven, he was never able to lead a normal life. Dividing his time between the duties of the music career and school, he had no free time for the things most of us enjoy doing as youngsters, such as playing, meeting other kids of his age (outside his family), going to amusement parks etc.
Micheal's second adult solo album, Thriller, published in 1982, was the one to make his really famous, also outside the U.S. As the money started coming in, with it Michael lost whatever little privacy he had left, being unable to travel anywhere in the world and not being recognised. He started building his own world at his ranch, called Neverland. He tried to create his lost childhood again with things that you would be most likely to find in amusement parks and playgrounds. He loved to play and he loved to spend time with kids and animals, the most sincere creatures in the world.
He had large income but he also donated huge amounts of money to charity, helping out children and animals all over the world. His life was never peaceful, he was always the target of weird rumours and evil gossip and constantly hunted by the media. In 1993, he was accused of pedofilia for the first time. It is not hard to think that he was an easy target for people to get money by blackmailing him, since his devotion for children was so well known. He was cleared of all the accusations in 2005 but they nevertheless ruined his carreer and most likely had a big influence on his premature passing away. The last years of his life he lived as a refugee outside U.S. and it can only be imagined the agony and pain he must have been feeling.

Michael has been such a huge influence in my own life, I was a big fan since the age of 13 and still have a considerable collection of his music in all possible forms (oh I love those vinyls), bibliographies of him, merchandise etc. He can also be thanked for the fact that i started doing arts, i used to love to draw his pictures with pencil.

Michael, where ever you are now, i hope that your soul is finally in piece and that you have all the things you ever wished for
And we are many, missing you now that you are gone, and we will always remember you because you did things like this: [link] ...
