Summer Interview Project - Volume 1

=Doksuri:iconDoksuri: reports, July 5
:bulletblue::bulletgreen::bulletpurple:Doksuri's "Summer Interview Project (S.I.P)":bulletblue::bulletgreen::bulletpurple:

Hello and welcome to the first volume of my Summer Interview Project fellow deviants! :wave: This project was created as a way to help the artists in this community get noticed, as well as helping us learn about the people on this site. For information on how to apply for an interview, please see the end of this article :)

The very first interview belongs to a very good friend of mine, =Shika192 :iconshika192:!

=Shika192 has a very fresh and unique art style. She uses a variety of mediums to make her artwork, including pencils, pens, watercolours, Adobe Photoshop and even flash. Not only does she make artwork, she also creates her own music and runs her own podcast called "The Kids Who Know Nothing!" check out her page for more info on that :)

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: So to start out =Shika192, tell us a little about yourself!

=Shika192 answered: My name's Olivia Dugan. My friends call me Olive or Shik though. I'm a confused 17 year old who finds it hard to focus on one thing while working in the field of art. I love drawing, attempting to compose music, and talking to myself-- oh wait that's not a talent. O_e;;;

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: What got you interested in art ? What particular art style or medium do you prefer?

=Shika192 answered: I was watching my father draw a unicorn for my mother to express his love to her (oh, the sweet memories). I believe my first picture was one of me crying though. That wasn't... appealing at all. xD
I prefer digital media. It's easy to manage, and there's an undo function. Most of the sketching I do is traditional though. I don't know. I guess I'm kinda used to it. xD;;;

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: Tell me about your first week on dA.

=Shika192 answered: Oh God, that was a LOOOONG time ago. I believe all you would see from me if you watched me back then was freaking Naruto fanart. Now that I look back... that's kinda nerve wrecking. O_e;;;

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: Do you have any current idols on dA or outside of this community?

=Shika192 answered: Uhmmmm... well there's you for making up a comic and sticking to it. And your coloring style is amazing. [link]. :heart: (Dok: Aww :heart:)
There's also :icongreenliquidbrain:. She's a hilarious artist, and the expressions she makes and the way she colors is so awesome. I don't know why I'm obsessed with color. I guess... I'm a colorful person. :D *shot*
My mother (of course) is also an idol of mine, and my ceramics teacher (aka Art Mom), is also an idol. They're both very strong, sophisticated women who know how to have fun. :heart:

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: What's the most inspirational quote you've heard up to date? Does it motivate or inspire you?

=Shika192 answered: I have horrible memory, good God. Though my ceramics teacher told me, and I quote, "You have to set a goal and gun for it. Just go for it, girl!" So yeah. Her voice echoes through my empty skull. :B
It really does motivate me, because I know that she believes in me. It makes me actually feel good about myself. :3

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: How do you feel about your artwork now? Is there any level of excellence that you would like to achieve?

=Shika192 answered: I'm on a half and half plane when it comes to my artwork. I'm never satisfied. I'd call myself average. I'd like to get as good as certain people here on deviantART so that I could stop beating myself up for being so... average. *facepalm*

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: How much do you think you've improved from your first real piece of art? What do you still have difficulties with now?

=Shika192 answered: Oh my goodness, I have come a LOOONG way. I recently looked at the first picture of Naginata... he's changed. A lot. O_O
I still have difficulties with hands, heads, eyes, and... uh... keeping things that should be symmetrical even. It's tough.

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: What do you love the most about your art style? How about the least?

=Shika192 answered: I love the way... whao. I feel awkward actually giving myself props. I'd have to go with the color. If not for the color, my drawings would look so sad. What I like least? Everything else. xD;;

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: What art styles have you gone through in the past? Which did you start with?

=Shika192 answered: Craaap, I went through crudime (a mixture of crud and anime) and it's developed from there. I'm currently trying to develop my own style. It's not as easy as I thought it'd be.

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: What makes your art different from everyone else's?

=Shika192 answered: I have no idea. Maybe the way I draw my heads or something like that? I'm a horrible observer. D:

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: What is your favorite piece of artwork in your gallery? How about your least?

=Shika192 answered: As of recently, my favorite piece is "The New Xenon Naginata" . That is a stepping stone for me. A huge one. The least favorite one is "The angry sketch" . What the hell was I thinking trying to pull off realism, eh? I fail to understand. I'll just stay away from drawing pencils from now on. <//3

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: Are there any projects that you're working on that people might not know about? Would you like to share a few?

=Shika192 answered: Wagh, that's the thing. I am HORRIBLE at focusing on one thing. However, I can tell you that I'm working on a picture of a blonde naked woman--*shot*
Well I've been working on an animation project, TwistedFates: Dawn of a New Era, for an extremely long time. It's been so long since I've started that my style has changed drastically compared to the illustrations. And I had to call :iconemmiesensei: for help. So now it's a collab project. I'm also working on a deviantART exclusive comic called "A Rose for Shurinai", a comic about a young man who loses a friend and eventually dies. Depressing, I know. I'm also selling a novel--*shot again*
Oh yes. And my and my sisters' podcast of awesome. |3 *shot three times*

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: What do you like the most about deviantArt?

=Shika192 answered: The people here are so friendly and great. Being a deviantART addict, I look forward to the many kind comments and awesome artwork that I've come to know dA for. And everyone on here is so creative! :heart:

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: If there was one thing that you could change about this community, what would it be?

=Shika192 answered: The idiots. There are quite a few kinds. They're always either making fools out of themselves and saying stupid things. It's really annoying. o:
OH YES and there's the morons who fill their galleries with myspace pictures of themselves, what in God's name is that about? O_e

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: Is there any advice that you would like to give to the other artists on this site?

=Shika192 answered: Hmmmm o:
I'm horrible at giving advice. But I'll say one thing: DRAW AND COLOR. D<
Yeah. There's the wisdom. :B *shot*

:bulletblue:Dok' asked: Are there any artists out there that you would recommend to others? (on or off dA)

=Shika192 answered: Well, there's you, :iconemmiesensei:, :iconstripeymistress:, :icongreenliquidbrain:, and all my friends! Because they're awesome. |3 :heart:

~Thank you very much for your time =Shika192!! :heart:
