Club Member Interview #2

~feature-me:iconfeature-me: reports, July 9
:iconsadist-oldman:
First off, tell us a little about yourself?

Well there is too much and to little to tell, so I'll just leave this at the fact that i am a person who sees the glass half full which is the opposite of the concepts behind my art.

How did you discover deviantART, and how long have you been a member?

A friend of mine :uecho: introduced me to this site and it has been one of the best gifts. as far as the time i have been here is just about 2 months

Do you have a favourite thing about deviantART? How about least favourite?

I love the fact that artist from around the world with their own perception of similar things experienced by everyone can join together in one place and form a community of it own.
The thing that i do not like to see is how so many talented people engage in just drawing fanart when they could spend their time coming up far better ideas. I hold nothing against the genre of manga and anime but to see people copy work to me is as good as killing imagination.

What is your favorite form of art? Do you have a favorite artist (either on or off DA)?

I like to experiment so i cant say what form in specific but i do only traditional work, as far as my favorite artist go well :iconbernardumaine: is my favorite artist on DA while the one out side DA the list is too long

What is your favourite piece that you have created?

All my work be it good or bad holds a place in me since i can relate to it all in some way or other but at the moment is my favorite

Do you create your art to send a message to people?

i create art to send a message and as a source of therapy for my self to vent out the negativity

My favorite thing about deviantART is well.. the art of course! My least favorite thing is uploading deviations- it takes a long time to load for me. :P

What is your favorite form of art? Do you have a favorite artist (either on or off DA)?
My favorite form of art is photography. Yes, I do have a favorite artist, but I'm not going to go dropping names. :P

First off, tell us a little about yourself?

I am 17, and live in Ohio in the US. I love playing piano, trumpet, and singing. I love fantasy and love to read. I will be attending college next year for Vocal Music Education, but I am hoping to switch to performance and double major in that as well as graphic design.

How did you discover deviantART, and how long have you been a member?

A friend of mine JustxAnotherxChica introduced me to Deviant art a while ago, but I was never truly active until this summer when I posted my work from my graphics class and my art Portfolio class.

Do you have a favourite thing about deviantART? How about least favourite?

I love when people comment!!! (Hint-hint, wink-wink, nudge-nudge) and when they favorite my work. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. (^_^)

What is your favorite form of art? Do you have a favorite artist (either on or off DA)?

I specialize in graphics and photo manipulation. If you saw anything that I have ever drawn, you would understand why. =P

I recently discovered MistRaven, and she has some wonderful work up, as well as marcuso and rustymermaid. Off of DA, I love all of the 3D people from Final Fantasy... I wish I could do that...

What is your favourite piece that you have created?

For a while, Vridet , but I really like Oscar Wilde .

Messages are so much fun. (^_^)

Do you create your art to send a message to people?

I believe that if it doesn't have a message behind it, than it's not art. The message can simply be an emotion, or something more complicated like the way you view society, or showing how much you love Giraffes.

Do you have any favourite tools of the trade?

Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended. LOVE it.

Where, or what do you pull your inspiration from?

Me, My friends, music that I listen to, music that I write... lol lots of music. I recently decided to work on a series based on superpowers. (^_^) Check it out, and I hope you enjoy my work!

First off, tell us a little about yourself?

-Well, I'm in high school, I'm a bit of a geek, I love to game, and I write comics.

How did you discover deviantART, and how long have you been a member?

-About a year and a half ago, a few of my friends suggested I make an account. One of my friends wrote a comic at the time (he still does), and I used my account to comment and such.

About half a year later, I started writing comics.

Do you have a favourite thing about deviantART? How about least favourite?

-Well, it's a great way to get my comic seen, so I can't argue with that. It is nice to be able to get some input on my works. The worst part of it, though, is the lack of people on DeviantArt who write in a comic style similar to mine, making it harder to find readers.

What is your favorite form of art? Do you have a favorite artist (either on or off DA)?

-I don't know too much about art in the traditional sense, so I would have to say writing, although I prefer comic writing to be specific. My favorite artist would have to be Rich Burlew, author of Order of the Stick. He doesn't have an account, but he was a major influence on my decision to write a comic.

What is your favourite piece that you have created?

-Tough question. I'd have to say this one , but my readers seem to prefer this .

Do you create your art to send a message to people?

-Right now, my comic is mainly humor, and I don't really have a message being sent. Once I get further, though, I do have a story I'm planning on telling, so in a year or two, maybe even less, I should.

Do you have any favourite tools of the trade?

-Adobe Illustrator. If I didn't have it, I'd still be hand-drawing comics, and I'm a terrible artist, so I doubt I would ever get a decent amount of readers. If you doubt me, check out the rough draft section of my gallery. They look awful. I try to avoid going there; my old work makes me cringe now.

Where, or what do you pull your inspiration from?

-Since most of my comics are based on some type of gaming, both video games and table-top-role playing games are a major influence. I would have to say that I get a ton of inspiration from life events, such as gaming with my friends, or even just walking around school. About half the time, though, my ideas come from me thinking about something, then a humorous situation or explanation of it, and I eventually work it into a comic. So I'd say about half of it is based on real life, and the other is made up randomly.

:iconqueerangel8900:
First off, tell us a little about yourself?

Well, my name is Mads, but I tend to go by the name Sam, or Samuel if you will. I'm 19 years old and from Denmark, kinda small country located in Scandinavia. I'm gay, out since I was 16, had a boyfriend for a good twenty months, and am currently dating a guy non-exclusively.
I've had a hard life, with lots of deaths close to me, been through a lot mentally, such as depressions, eating disorders, psychoses and suicide attempts. I know life is hard and unfair, but I try to cope with it. I've dropped out of the education system, at least for the time being, and am now concentrating more on my health and mental stability, rather than school.

How did you discover deviantART, and how long have you been a member?

I think I was just google-ing for some pictures, and found dA through that. Been a member for about a year, but didn't really upload anything til recently.

Do you have a favourite thing about deviantART? How about least favourite?

Well, I love looking at people's pictures, getting inspired. Hmm, least favourite thing, I'm not sure. I'd kinda like it if there were some more community stuff, where you could talk to people - not like Facebook or MySpace, but something to that effect.

What is your favorite form of art? Do you have a favorite artist (either on or off DA)?

I love surrealism and photomanipulations, preferebly in the fantasy/dark/emotional areas. I don't really have any favourite artists, I like to keep my mind and eyes open.

What is your favourite piece that you have created?

Hmm, I can't pick just one, but I think the three I like best is, She is my Sin Guardian of the Gate and Meadows of Heaven part II

Do you create your art to send a message to people?

With some of it, but mostly it's just randomw thoughts that occurs to me, or to express certain feelings, whether it's important that people comprehend the feeling of a piece, well, I don't mind if they do or don't - I like creating art, and mostly it's for my sake that I do.

Do you have any favourite tools of the trade?

I use Photoshop, at times GIMP as well, but I find Photoshop most effective. I've used Jasc Paint Shop Pro as well, but Photoshop is really more compact and able.

Where, or what do you pull your inspiration from?

Some is from songs, some is from other pictures I've seen and liked, some is from my emotions, some from books, movies or other kinds of media.

First of all let me thank you for choosing me for the interview. I think this is a really great idea which is making art more personalized. And I've always thought - hey, those people who gave interviews, they are so cool. So here is my turn. I'm really happy with this. Thank you!

So now to your questions:

First off, tell us a little about yourself?
I'm 26 years old, I'm Russian and leave in St. Petersburg (which is obviously in Russia :giggle:). And you know all those white nights and so on are very interesting and beautiful, but mostly we get here such an awful whether, so that you simply don't notice it. I am traveling a bit and this is why I had no choice than to start shooting. Than I was always interested in Photoshop abilities and was exploring it. Not a professional in both, but first plus second and I'm here :)

How did you discover deviantART, and how long have you been a member?
I was searching for nice photos and someone recommended me to search on DA. Some time ago I've decided to get an own account and start sharing photos. I'm here for 4 months.

Do you have a favourite thing about deviantART? How about least favourite?
I'm really a fun of Journals css and SitBack slideshows. This is what helps us to distinguish from each other :giggle: However it's a pity that you cannot change the look of the whole page and every module. Or I am just not aware of this? :)
I like that there are a lot of talented people from all over the world on DA. However I feel regret every time when opening the newest deviations. There is a huge amount of trash which you cannot filter anyhow.

What is your favorite form of art? Do you have a favorite artist (either on or off DA)?
I prefer photography, manipulations and advertisement designs. I think there is no particular artist whom I like more than others, but I'm watching a lot of not very famous, but very fresh and interesting deviants.

What is your favourite piece that you have created?
That's a difficult question. I believe that I'm improving from day to day, and thus the very last is usually most favourite. At the moment this is a "Vintage series". E.g.

Do you create your art to send a message to people?
I'd say I like to catch some mood. If it's can be a message than I definitely do.

Do you have any favourite tools of the trade?
I like my tripod. :giggle: Honestly  This is what always works excellent :)

Where, or what do you pull your inspiration from?
For 80% - photo-deviations. For 10% - something real. And 10% more - discussions and communication with friends.

First off, tell us a little about yourself?
Sure ^^,
I'm Kayleigh, I'm 13 years old and I am from Holland. I like reading, dancing, singing and writing. My favorite film is Twilight, and my favorite band is Paramore.

How did you discover deviantART, and how long have you been a member?
I was on a Dutch forum, and you had a subject about photography, and someone mentioned DeviantArt. So I went to DA and I liked it. So I became a member.

I have been a member for almost 3 months now.
Do you have a favourite thing about deviantART? How about least favourite?
Well, posting photos and stuff is the only thing I do here. So, that's my favourite. I don't have a least favorite.

What is your favorite form of art? Do you have a favorite artist (either on or off DA)?
My favorite art is photography. I don't really have a favorite artist.

What is your favourite piece that you have created?
That's a tough question. Sometimes I really like a photo that I have made, but I think I like my photos of cats the most.

Do you create your art to send a message to people?
Sometimes I do. But most off the time I don't.

Where, or what do you pull your inspiration from?
I just start taking photos, I really don't have any inspiration.
