Does love really exist?

Charlyne Yi does not believe in love. Or so she says.

"Paper Heart" follows Charlyne as she embarks on a quest across America to make a documentary about the one subject she doesn't fully understand. As she and her good friend (and director) Nicholas search for answers and advice about love, Charlyne talks with friends and strangers, scientists, bikers, romance novelists, and children. They each offer diverse views on modern romance, as well as various answers to the age-old question: does true love really exist?

Then, shortly after filming begins, Charlyne meets a boy after her own heart: Michael Cera. As their relationship develops on camera, her pursuit to discover the nature of love takes on a fresh new urgency. Charlyne risks losing the person she finds closest to her heart.

Inspiration

Is love a many splendid thing? Is it a battlefield? Can it conquer all?

We want to know what love means to you!
Get your creative juices flowing and design a movie poster (including the film’s title and release information) and focusing on the theme "What Does Love Mean to Me?"

Whether it’s playing an amazing video game for 10 hours straight, taking a romantic walk on the beach with that special someone, or even seeing your new baby for the first time, we want to see your definition of love!

The Rules

  • Entries must be received by 11:59:59 PM (PT) on July 29, 2009 and be submitted to the Contest gallery on www.deviantart.com "click here."
  • Entrants must be 13 years or older and a US resident to participate;
  • Entries must express the theme "What Does Love Mean To Me?" and include the title "Paper Heart" and the information "In select theaters August 7"
  • Entries may NOT include characters’ likenesses or imagery from the movie;
  • Entries must be in a GIF/PNG/JPG file format;
  • Entries must be made for this contest;
  • You may submit more than one entry;
  • Online entries only, hard copies not accepted;
  • You must be a member of deviantART to enter. Membership is free.

Judging

Your work will be judged on the basis of interpretation of the theme, originality, and technique.

25 Semi-Finalists will be selected by a panel of full time deviantART Community Relations and Creative staff.

The 25 Semi-Finalists will be judged by Nicholas Jasenovec, director of "Paper Heart"!

All Semi-Finalists will receive a 1 month deviantART subscription.

Update: Don't even bother looking at the semi finalists. The contest judges were biased and didn't even follow their OWN rules.

I am NEVER doing a contest again unless a REVOTE is done!! >O Quicksilver's comment on the semi finalists' page points it out straight: All the entries had PAPER HEARTS, NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DESIGNATED SUBJECT!!! READ YOUR OWN RULES!! >(
