2009 is the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 
To celebrate this, the European Commission has announced the competition "Imagine a New World". See the link for more info. The gist is as follows:
- Open to photography only (however some manipulation is allowed, read specific rules on the website!).
- Film or digital photo allowed, but only online digital submission.
- Contest closes on August 31, 2009.
- Submission in JPG or TIF format, two diff. dimensions of each image read the specific rules!
- Only your own work and a signed consent form needed for any persons depicted.
- You agree to give the EU Commission the right to use the winning images for informational and promotional purposes.
- The competition is open to residents of the European Union member states, EU Candidate countries and the EEA countries Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
Prizes!The prizes will be awarded in two categories:
Jury selection prizes#1: The first prize is a
camera or photographic equipment of a value not exceeding 5,000 and a trip to Stockholm to the closing ceremony of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009.
#2: The second prize is a
camera or photographic equipment of a value not exceeding 2,000 and a trip to Stockholm to the closing ceremony of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009.
#3: The third prize is a
camera or photographic equipment of a value not exceeding 1,000 and a trip to Stockholm to the closing ceremony of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009.
People's choice prizesThe winner of the Peoples Favourite Award will receive a
camera or photographic equipment of a value not exceeding 2,000 and a trip to Stockholm to the closing ceremony of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009.
