Printmaking Series Two - Intaglio Printing II

^stigmatattoo:iconstigmatattoo: reports, July 12
Printmaking produces images with visual qualities that are very different from those obtained through drawing or painting directly, and each technique adds its own peculiarities to the way each piece is conceived. However, with its odd and alchemical combinations of unusual materials, specific tools and enormous machines, Printmaking is often a strange and foreign territory even for artists accustomed to studio work on other disciplines.

Watercolor art can be hard to find on DA, since the medium lacks its own designated section. Here’s a sampling of some of the best watercolors I’ve found on this site.

Jezebel's Artist Feature - enhypnion

`jezebel:iconjezebel: reports, October 17, 2002
I decided that for my IndyArt Tier contribution this week I would feature an artist whose work many Deviants have not yet seen. ~enhypnion has an excellent Giger-esque style, yet never loses sight of his individuality which shines through in every piece. Although his gallery currently holds only a handful of deviations, the dream-like imagery and unusual characters within have much impact. I encourage each and every one of you to venture into his gallery and check it out. Some samples to whet your palette:

<img src="[link] width="88" height="115" border="0" alt="Agdogal The Tyrant"> <img src=" [link] width="85" height="115" border="0" alt="anger -"> <img src="[link] width="81" height="115" border="0" alt="The Beast and The Sigil"> <img src="[link] width="115" height="61" border="0" alt="Dreammachine I">

Since I'm not the greatest writer on the planet, I decided it would be nice to let the artist speak in his own words as well. I arranged a mini-interview with him, mercilessly probing his creative mind with my goofy questions! Muhahaha! Read onward to find out what makes ~enhypnion tick. :)

1. Who is your inspiration?

Its pretty broad in this, but I would say the two artists that got me going at first were Dali and H.R. Giger. Mostly Giger. Now days there are other artists whose work I admire (and influences me) among them Brom and Barlowe. I try to keep myself open to different styles, as I think I am still in the early stages of my artistic development.

2. What do you do for a living?

Graphic/Web designer for a small studio

3. Does music inspire you? If so, what?

MOST definitely. I sometimes find myself completely incapable to create without some music in the background. I have a pretty active imagination and I always finds way to make the music be part of what I am creating, almost like the scoring of a movie, although I try to remain conscious of it, so that the music does not take the piece in its own direction.
As far as what I listen to, its usually movie soundtracks, Tool and lately a largely unknown band called C17H19NO3. It depends on the painting and my mood.

4. What style do you aim for in your work?

This one is a bit hard for me to answer, mostly since I am still exploring a few different styles. I am trying to just learn as much as I can and more importantly have fun. We'll see how it goes from there.

5. How long have you been doing artwork?

not too long, about 4-5 years. It has pretty much always been digital, I have never (unfortunatelly) really experimented much with traditional media, except for a few sketches and the like.

6. What is your dream job?

hmm I would say pretty close to what I am doing now only with a much bigger paycheck. I love doing design, although dealing with clients is a nightmare. I think I would much prefer to work entirelly freelance as well. I would love to do some illustration eventually, but I have a long way to go in that before it can become a reality.
