THE HUMAN PROJECT
When I was a child, I used to say: What if every single person in the world could be nice, then the world would be a much better place. Such out-loud thoughts were always met by adults in my life, with responses like: Life is just not that simple... or Youre too idealistic... etc.
I learned early on, what idealistic meant. Perhaps they were right, and perhaps life really IS not that simple. Yet, why cant it be?
Why cant it begin with a choice for each person whether or not to be mean and bitter OR kind and helpful, even despite some individual terribly awful unfair experiences. Weve all had them, to some degree or another- though there could be less IF there were more nice people... but naturally sad things occur, too- but again with more nice people, the more we can help out during times such as, naturally occurring disasters and various loss.
But it is a choice. For many, it is a conscious effort to choose kind and helpful -
I remember when I came back to the choice later in life after going through a period in dealing with some very excruciatingly difficult challenges, and feeling deeply unhappy with life and people. Ive been bitter and jaded to say the least...
A person can sometimes get to the point where they are as if a very tight flower bud, that remains so closed in its bud, the risk of never blossoming becomes greater and greater.
Despite the fact there are still certain challenges I face daily, there was that time to choose. Sometimes I choose each day. Ive even chosen more toward that idealistic side of things.
[ Theres that word again!
].
I think its always been a part of me, even deep down. Ive voiced that same childhood sentence again in recent years, just to gauge reaction! And the responses usually remain the same, just different adults. I wonder what would happen if I voiced it to some kids.
*************
The HUMAN Project mayve been been born from a place of idealism. I believe that at the very least idealism can be a highly motivating factor toward the pursuit of at least a noble and worthy direction. Basically, I have a passion for compassion. I have always dreamed and desired so intensely for human beings to get along better, on many levels, and all over, from those closest to me, citizens of my own hometown, country, and abroad. The feeling is equally close to home as it is world-wide.
I became interested, from an artistic standpoint, in researching and seeking out deviations which depicted a wide range of age, race, background, and culture. Likewise, I wanted a range of close-up faces depicting a variety of the emotions which humans share in common, as well as humans from a distance, to evoke curiosity in what they might be thinking or feeling, and other parts of the human to show human form in its most physical, to remind us all of what is similar as well as different. Additionally, other parts of the body can sometimes show expression, as in body language.
Some deviations divulge a diversity of humans working, playing, engaging in hobbies, sports, or resting, sleeping, or seemingly doing nothing... though nothing is often something. I think at least most people partake in some range of these life experiences.
For all intents and purposes The HUMAN Project is meant to be a celebration of Human Beings, even if in some instances it may not appear to be. We should acknowledge where strides have been made in areas of love and compassion for our fellow-Humans.
We should always note the positive.
However, to be realistic, it is definitely equally notable, that we still have so much work to do. It would be nice if we were a lot further along by now. Yet, it is what it is. I guess I really just hope that one day we truly will indeed be further along.
I just feel that as of yet, Humans on the Whole, have not yet learned how to harness the beauty and power of our magnificent differences and to channel these great collective aspects and facets, to work in favourable and constructive terms for Humans. Human Beings as a Group, have not yet fathomed the strengths and benefits in such diversity- diversity in all its forms.
Uniqueness is an amazing thing...
Yet, it is also quite a wonderment with what we all have in common, as well. Maybe people might first focus on all that is truly universal. That could be a compassion-breeding eye-opener.
I believe what could make Human Beings, together, potentially improve our shared race, is the realization that we need to celebrate and collaborate with both our differences and our commonalities.Without Further Ado...

Please remember this is not my project. It is "THE" Project, or better yet, "OUR" Project. I could not have done the artist side of things without the magnificent art created by all the artists participating in this project. But MORE and hopefully BEYOND... this is EVERYONE'S and ANYONE'S Project. It is for anyone who partakes in these ideals, and currently makes, or begins to make them realities in their individual lives, finding ways to better our existence. It is for a way of life.
It is for all people. It is for humans of The HUMAN Project.
I want to thank everyone who helped make this Project even possible, through your creations, through your comments in my journals as each part was presented, through your astounding support, encouragement, and enthusiasm. It could not have been done without all.

SPECIAL ThanksSpecial thanks goes to ~

The HUMAN Project on his journal, chronologically, right along with each featured part to this Project, with my own journal. What wonderful and generous help!

It's not the chicken that makes the omelette, it's the cook.
And so, the photographer "makes" the image, not the camera

You know, I thought about making TWO sections, here in the news, because I realize it's a long features, but... having them all *together* is also supportive of the concepts expressed herein, so I kept everything together as one article.
It is indeed one HUGE HUMAN PARTY!
Thanks for being a good human!
