That's right folks! ~
thejamma and I, *
SlateReaper, are co-hosting a devmeet! In Manchester, England, and we'll be meeting in Picadilly Gardens.
This all came about from when $
spyed and $
Heidi organised the world tour. They finally announced that they were coming to merry old England, but unfortunately for us northerners, they went to London! Common sense, one might say, but us Northerners, we were jolly well miffed that they didn't come somewhere a little more central, like Manchester, or Liverpool

So ~
thejamma and I decided to take it upon ourselves to organise one for ourselves!
It's a chance to meet new people, gain new insights, visit a place you may not have been before!
So here are the details!
Location: Manchester, Lancashire, England
When: Sunday, July 26th @ 11:00 am (We know it's a bit soon!)
Where: Picadilly GardensHere's where we'll be meeting:

We're probably going to meet up at the Queen Victoria Statue on the steps, wait around 15 minutes for everyone to turn up, then head off for a bite to eat and a tea/coffee/beer or something to all break the ice, Then we'll wander round the city landmarks for people to take photos, draw sketches, whatever takes their fancy, then on to a restaurant or pub or something for some food and a bit more beer! We'll have time for shopping too! And during the middle of it all, we'll head back to Picadilly Gardens and play a few games like twister, sunbathe, or just chase geese!
Keep in mind!We recommend that you bring some money with you, in case you need bus money, or just paying for food and drink, we're wanting to keep this devmeet super cheap, so that everyone and anyone can come and enjoy themselves with feeling left out! Feel free to bring cameras, pencils, pads, whatever your artistic vices desire! We'll have plenty of free time to sit back and enjoy the summer afternoon!
On an extra note...~
thejamma and I though we could make recognising each other a little easier, as well as a little humourous! British fancy dress! Come as you like, really, but I think we'd love it if you guys could come in something stereotypically British, so we'd stand out, e.g. monocle, cane, even a cardboard top hat would do! I'll be coming with a cane and top hat, and I'll probably squiggle on a moustache or something! But feel free to come in what you want! You might even decide not to come in fancy dress at all, that's fine too, but you'll feel pretty silly standing around the rest of us in our dinner jackets and top hats

We're open to suggestions, thoughts comment, whatnot!

[link] Important! If you do decide that you want to come, you should note either one of us, so we can give you contact details, in case in need to get in touch with us immediatly, e.g. you've arrived in Manchester and you're going to be a bit late, so we can wait for you, or you're lost, so we can send someone to pick you up, etc. We'd also appreciate your name, email address, and is possible, a photo, so that we can recognise you!
Devious Comments
I thought I'd try and make getting there easier for people too...
By car:
--------
There is an NCP car park right by the Exhibition Centre. If you can find that on a map, once you leave the car park, follow the tram tracks AWAY from the ramp (up to G-Mex), and that'll take you to Piccadilly Gardens, after the St. Peter's Square stop. 5 minutes walk, or so. There'll be a massive Primark on your left when you get near.
(Apart from that you're on your own, I don't drive up here, so can't really advise on other carparks...)
By train:
The nearest stop is Manchester Piccadilly. If you're getting off here, walk to the big main station entrance (pretty much opposite where the platforms connect with the foyer), go out the doors, and follow the road that starts immediately outside. I forget the name, but its a big 'un, and there is just the one. Follow that for several blocks, and shortly after a Tesco the Gardens, and especially that Queen V statue, should be on your left. Thats around 10 minutes walk.
If you're disembarking at any of the other local stations (Oxford Rd, Victoria etc) you can either get a local train to Piccadilly, which I _think_ may even be free with a ticket to Manc, or you've got a bit of a walk ahead. Let me know and I'll direct ya.
By tram:
This is where it gets a bit more troublesome, but if you're local enough to be using the trams, you probably know the drill anyway.
At the moment, the city centre trams aren't running, so if you're heading in on the Altrincham or Eccles lines, the nearest you can get is St. Peter's Square... Thats what I'll be doing! Like with the carpark directions, all you have to do from there is follow the tram tracks AWAY from G-Mex (e.g. away from where you just came from), and you'll be led to Piccadilly Gardens.
If you're travelling in from Bury, I believe the trams terminate at Victoria, but I'm not sure. Either way, follow the routine for train people arriving at Victoria (phone or text one of us, and we'll direct ya). Walk time; very variable.
By bus:
--------
I haven't a clue where you'll be coming from, but most major bus lines go directly to Piccadilly Gardens. If you spot the big TV screen, huge Primark straight ahead, massive concrete walls or just a lot of people milling about, you're probably at the right place. Walk through a gap in the concrete wall, and if you see grass and a fountain, you're in the right place. 1-2 minutes walk, tops.
By foot;
---------
Come on, if you're near enough to walk in by foot, I won't insult your intelligence.
Hope that helps, if anyone is still struggling with how to get there, I'll make my phone number available nearer the time, give me a call and I'll guide you there.
See ya soon!
