''As this year comes to a close, we can look back and see that 2009 was a big year for typography. We saw more web designs with a focus on type, and there were some pretty amazing fonts released. Here are some of the best free fonts from this past year. A few of the fonts below were released at the end of 2008, but since they didnt see much action until this year, I included them in the list.''

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and *Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same.

dA gallery Info: "Photomanipulations suggesting the horror of death and decay and/or expressing an intense, painful feeling of repugnance and fear."
This particular gallery seems to be either hated or completely adored. Some may even attempt to discuss whether this genre is art or not. Well, I say it most certainly is. On the same level as any other artform.
Enjoy!
Macabre & Horror from Photomanipulation gallery:
-----
The most common miscategorization / Where do I submit? 'OMG, I'm so goffic" snapshots. This article by `Katerina423 about horror macabre photography may very well apply to the photomanip gallery in terms of the genre itself: [link] A texture added to a stock photo: Digital Art > Miscellaneous > Macabre & Horror. A texture added to a self taken photo: Photography > Digital Darkroom. Adjustments/levels altered to a stock photo: Digital Art > Miscellaneous > Macabre & Horror.
What about Mixed Media? Unfortunately there is no Macabre & Horror category in the Digital Mixed Media gallery like there is in Photomanipulation, but as with several other categories, I've been trying and hoping to make that happen with the launch of Project Streamline on the Digital galleries. Fingers crossed.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
