I've decided to compile a list of Stock artists who allow their stock to be used in DA prints, because it is a bit of a chore for artists wishing to make DA prints to fish for Stock that can be used commercially on DA. So here is the list of great stock for Prints I've compiled over time, and I hope you find it useful.

Before I start with the list, though, I must remind you that you must Respect and abide by the Stock artist's rules! Even if they allow print use, they have other rules which you must read before you use the stock!

If you are new to DA and/or to using stock in general, please refer to the following FAQ page: FAQ #217: What are "Stock Photos" and can I use "Stock Photos" in my submissions?. It explains everything quite lucidly.

In my list, I give the link to the artist, and one featured stock deviation I chose from their stock gallery. The featured stock photo for each artist is located under the username. Keep in mind that the featured deviation does not indicate what the rest of the stock is like. Most of these stock artists have a wide range of stock photos, and just because I feature, say, a photo of a building, it doesnt mean they only have architectural photos. So please take time to check out the stockist's gallery

Now, the following few stock artists allow prints use, but with conditions (e.g. to note them beforehand, send them a free print, etc...) so be sure to check that!!! The conditions are nothing extreme, and are usually there to make sure the deviation isn't just a color-change or a filter on an otherwise unchanged stock photo (which isn't really art.)

Now, there is, I'm sure you've heard, a high-quality stock account called =resurgere. They have stock sent in from stock artists on DA, and if you want to use a Resurgere stock photo in a print, you have to ask the maker of the stock.

Useful advice when searching for stock images for prints

Go to the shop section and browse photomanipulation prints, and look at what stock is used there! A lot of them use private stock, but you'll come accross loads that use common DA stock accounts.

Search "prints" in the stock category in deviantart! You'll probably come up with plenty of photos that allow to be used in prints!

Go to stock clubs! Some of these are . It's likely you'll find many stockists there who allow print use.

Start your own stock account, or get a personal stock folder. It's much more challenging, perhaps, but there's much more satisfaction and much less worry about copyrights and all that.

Purchase stock. Sites like istockphoto and sxc have stock you can purchase really cheap. Again much less worry about copyright. But be sure to check terms of use! There might be monsters lurking there


Of course, I haven't been able to list all stockists who allow print use, and I also haven't listed accounts that do not have a clear and direct link to rules or those that do not specify their policy on prints.
