3DLove is a series of articles featuring 3D artwork, combining my choices with some of yours I often see comments in the 3D gallery from people who mistake 3D artworks for photos, so in this special edition I am focussing on realism - those deviations that you have to look at a couple of times, just to be sure it isn't real.

There are many things that need to come together to make something truly photo-real: textures/materials and lighting are some of the most important, but some things look realistic because they're cleverly blended with genuine photographic elements, and sometimes renderings in black and white capture that photographic look where colours can't.

On to the features - many of these are very popular images on dA already, but hopefully some will be new to you and you may even have to stare for a very long time at some to convince yourself they are 3D
