What is the World War II ?

"World War II, or the Second World War[1] (often abbreviated WWII or WW2), was a global military conflict which involved a majority of the world's nations, including all of the great powers, organized into two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis. The war involved the mobilization of over 100 million military personnel, making it the most widespread war in history."

The World War II began on 1.09.1939 at 4:20 in the morning when german soldiers attacked Poland and polish soldiers on Westerplatte ( it is a place on the Baltic Sea coastline).

The war lasted for five years and ended on eight of May 1945.

During the five years, over 70 million people lost their lives from a wide variety of nationalities, cultures and religions.The war involeved many countries from all around the world.


The date 1st of September is marked not only in Poland but across Europe.Even after 70 years, we still rmember about soldiers and civilians that were killed during the war.We cannot forget about what happend ,and hope for us, that in the future nothing like the WW II will ever happen.
