4th annual coloring contest: let it begin!

Introduction:
It is hard to believe, but another year has gone by and I am ready to begin this year’s coloring contest! After last year’s contest, and looking to see how some other people have been holding contests, I have everything ready to go. Like last year, I will have three line arts for you to color. Unlike last year, they will not be leveled. I think it works better for each to be considered the same. Like last year, I will be giving a grand prize and three first place prizes for each line art… but this year, I will be trying out a new kind of prize; coloring tools! You will notice the layout is different, with links to all the information in the contest. If you are serious about entering, make sure you look them over... especially the prize link! Great stuff in there... lots of prizes. Overall, I can’t wait to get started; so without further ado, let’s begin.

Grand Prize Winner will receive:
an 8 PITT artist pen MANGA set by Faber Castell, a set of 12 DUAL Brush Pens (markers), and a set of 12 Derwent artist's colored pencils (total value of around $60),a 3 month subscription to deviantART, and much more!

The pictures:

You can choose to color all three, just one, or just two. The choice is yours. The more you color, the more chances you have to win. You will find coloring information in the artist’s comments of each picture; however, you are welcome to color them in any way you want. I do not judge based on conforming to my color code, but the information is there for anyone who wishes to color true to the character designs.

At the end of the contest, I will consult my judges to get their overall impressions, and their feelings about the pictures according to the criterion you can see by clicking on the scoring system link. Then I will be scoring each picture according to the same criterion, keeping the other judges' input in mind as I score them. Using a scoring system and multiple judges helps to make the judging as subjective as possible. When I am finished, I will post all the results so you can see how you did. This will help everyone to see where their strengths and weaknesses are in coloring, and I find that people generally appreciate that. The images with the most points will be the winners.

Timeline:
*The contest begins on September 1st 2009. You can start submitting your entries
*Last day to submit will be January 4th 2010. I will be accepting until I check my messages in the morning of January 5th 2010, so regardless of your time zone, you have until midnight
*Voting will being on January 5th 2010
*Last day for popular vote will be January 11th 2010 midnight
*Results will be posted no later than January 18th 2010 (probably sooner)
*Prizes will be distributed by the end of January

I know, 4 months is a long time for a contest… but I decided to try it out another year since it worked well last time… this gives people time to fit it into their schedules and to color more of the pictures. Sorry if you prefer shorter contests.
