Ok so in my “off hours” I work for a place in Pennsylvania called Fright Farm which basically is a 200 acre farm that is turned into a walk-through nightmare. One of the main attractions is a huge mansion with themed rooms which got me thinking that it would be really fun to have a DA haunted “walk-through” where a mansion is created through many art pieces each depicting a “room” with a theme. This could mean photo-manipulation, digital artwork, and traditional ext…

The idea is that viewers start their “tour” of the house at a starting point and work their way through the house with a link on a devy to the next room in the procession.

I also think it would be cool if there was some music to go with it, but the only way I can think of being able to do it is uploading the soundtrack to Youtube and having it play in a separate window. If anyone knows a better way of getting that done suggestions are gratefully taken

Participants with a subscription will be able to use the journal css made for the haunted tour to create a feel of uniformity and can yours to use without charge for as long as you want even after the project is over. It also might be fun for participants to include features of their favorite fall, dark, horror/macabre pieces in their journals.

As for other activates I’m hoping to include:
The “Book of Shadows” which would be a collection of literature in suspense, dark, horror, or supernatural theme. These pieces will be placed in one collection and a link to the collection will be placed at the starting point of the “tour”.

“Dark Images” would be a collection of photography, which can wither, be a person, place, or thing that fits theme of being dark, evil, lonely, or haunted.

“Sinister Series” this is a collection for anything in any art genre to be placed. This means that any devy you want to submit that is not a themed part of the Mansion or any other collection can be placed here.

“Trick or Treating” deck your avatar out with a costume and go around to the participants and get a piece of “candy” which will be a specially designed icon. The person with the most candy pieces wins a “Candy Champ Stamp”. But be warned, the person you ask for treats doesn’t have give you anything which means you might have to perform a “trick” on them which will be a chosen icon/icons placed on the person’s DA page will be shameful and horrible to all! Just like getting your lawn toilet papered.

Chat it up with friends in the movie/tv chat room that will be set up for the duration of the event and talk about your favorite horror/fantasy/supernatural TV show or movie.

What is involved if I decide to participate?
All you have to is get to work on a room with your own or pre-chosen theme and submit it to me then I set up the “route” that viewers will take when they view the pieces.

In addition you will be considered a “Ghoul” of the walk-through, which means that you are a contributor to the event, and that you might have some Trick-or-Treaters “knocking” at your door (you decide to let them). It might also be nice that should you get involved you might have a journal feature of your top Halloween, fall, dark, horror, emotionally dark, or macabre DA pieces by others showed off in your journal. Let’s give some other artists some true DA love right?

Can I use stock if I decide to do a photo-manipulation? May I use models and not just have it look like an empty creepy room?
Yes of course! Go all out if you want, the sky’s the limit. But please as always cite your sources in your comments.

What’s the criteria, you said a “haunted” theme, but does that mean macabre and horror are allowed?
Yes you can have horror, macabre, dark, emotionally dark or lonely, whatever. As long as it’s within the overall theme work i.e. being a room in a horribly haunted mansion. But maybe keep it PG 14? I’d like for people to like this not run for their bathroom to throw up.

If I’m a contributor to the Mansion do I have to pick a theme you have chosen, or can I do my own?
By all means pick your own if you so chose. I want this to be as artistically open as it can be. But, should you get stuck (as I sometimes do) in picking a theme I have some ideas which do not have to be used you don’t want them.

If I’m a “Ghoul” can I still participate in the other events?
Yep, you can be involved in everything and anything. Just because you help build the house does not mean that you can’t be eligible to participate in the fun.

Won’t that mean that if you tell people they can play “tricks” on my DA page that they might do something inappropriate?
Only the icon/icons that are chosen can be placed in the post comment box on any DA page. What I mean by icon is something funny ext… Anything other then that will not be permitted and will be reported.

I don’t want Trick-or-Treaters coming to me, what should I do?
Turn the porch light off.
What I mean by that is, where your tagline is located write something like “Light’s turned off go away” or something like that. That means the Trick-or-Treater will be unable to approach you and that will be in the guidelines for those who do Trick-or-Treat.

Can I let Trick-Treaters come to me even though I’m not a Ghoul?
Yes, but you have to let me know that you want to be put on the list of people who do want to called upon so I can place you in “house route” the links.

How long will this shindig last?
About two-three days with one forum or chat room on every evening.

If I submit stuff in the Mansion can I also submit work in the Book of Shadows and Dark Images
Yes of course! But I’m going to try to keep it down to two pieces per collection as the submission max.

Will there be contests? And if so what would be the prizes?
I’m hoping to get one contest up that will end after the last night of the event. As for the theme or criteria I’m uncertain to what that will be.
As for the prizes exclusive stock, stamps, journal css, and possible subscriptions will be offered as well as features ext…

Ok so…I get the gist of it, now what? If I want to participate how do I get involved? And, how soon would you need these art pieces?

I won’t need them for a while so no panicking, I’m hoping to get it organized by the end of this month beginning of Oct. I need a few parts of the house that are more standard meaning the ballroom, foyer, courtyard, greenhouse, and dinning room. People interested in doing those should let me know, after those are taken it’s just, make a room and submit it.

So how do I submit and how do I become a Ghoul?

Note me entitled “Deviance Manor” and let me know what room you would like to make or your idea for your own, then I put you down as a Ghoul. Please know that when you commit to making one I would appreciate you sticking to your guns and doing it, otherwise what’s the point?

Please note that you may become a “ Phantom” supporter, which means you support the event but you didn’t make a room to the Mansion, or submit works in the collections. This means you can have Trick-or-Treaters and may use the journal css layout.


I hope to get lot pf participants as in the story of Rose Red the house built on to itself and could be as big or as small as it wanted.

I think this could be a fun way to celebrate Halloween and get our community together to put together a little devious fun. The activities listed for the event are just some basic ideas and more can be added if someone gives me the idea.
