{fire} magazine 03 Urban

*akasleep:iconakasleep: reports, February 11, 2003
{fire} magazine has released their 3rd issue - 03 Urban. This issue takes a look at the topic "urban" through photographs, pictures, statistics, and thoughs of people around the world. Do you know what is urban? Do you know that almost half the world’s population now lives in urban areas? Check out this issue and find out more.

{fire} magazine is a very young e-zine formed by 2 deviants, garye157 and akasleep. It features a specific topic in each issue. Its aim is to rethink the specific topic in depth.

Enjoy!

Theres a sentence or two in the quotes that don't end right
and it says "half" the worlds population lives in urban areas, and in 5 years it will be more then half.. yet on the next page it says 40% live in urban today and in 20 years it will be 60%........ the facts seem to somehow always contrast each other

well put together, although some of the text is really hard to read, particularly against black photos or backdrops. reconsider that in the future

oh, and it' snot "What is urban means to you?" it's "What does urban mean to you."

well done, though... very comprehensive and enjoyable to flip through

Thanks for the reply, weaponzero! The latter data was attracted from sources written in 2000. And I believe that the former data about 50% of popluation is more accurate. I quote the second data because it tells the trend.
Also, living in "urban area" doesn`t mean that living in "cities". There are some differences.
Thank you very much for noting me anyway! :) (Smile)

I believe the text is hard to read if the monitor resolution is higher than 1024x768. I will try to address this problem in the next issue.
Thank you very much!

Aside from the text being very difficult to comprehend, i really liked what this issue had to present. Excellent work!

nice imagery and subdued, understated typography. an excellent mixture. a possible suggestion: have the whole booklet/magazine as a single, downloadable multi-page PDF (with vector text as well, for high quality printing and on-screen display at varying sizes)...just a thought...

Some excellent work here. The format was very impressive.. I think the text needs work though. The figures weren't particularly thought provoking. It'd be cool if you used the medium to convey some kind of political message, rather than just a few numbers. Understood that you included quotes too, but same thing applies - more thought needed.
