Writers: Places That Want to Publish You!

=KneelingGlory:iconKneelingGlory: reports, October 13
A great way for authors to break into the world of publishing is through literary magazines and periodicals. Below are some resources found on and off dA that offer publishing opportunities for poetry and short prose.

:star: But First! :star:

A few resources for those who are brand new to the publishing world:

Tips for Getting Published by John Orbell - some great advice that I found especially helpful when I first started submitted to lit magazines.

The Fearless "How to Get Published" Guide from Fearless Books - while this is admittedly biased toward self-publishing a book, some of the information is still useful to people just breaking into the business.

Submitting to Literary Magazines by Charlie Hughes - this has information on everything from how to format your submission to how to tell a real literary contest from a sham. Quite insightful and a useful resource for newbies.

:star: And Now the Publishers :star:

:bulletblack: "20x20 Magazine is a square platform for writings, visuals and cross-bred projects. Rather than on a theme, each issue is assembled around meta-words to be interpreted, researched, illustrated according to a loose, wide and multi-angled perspective. The intent is to create homogeneity of spirit within each issue, without the restrictions of a 'theme'." More information can be found on the 20x20 Magazine Website.

:bulletblue: The New Liverpool Movement aims to reinstitute the love of art and literature in Liverpool. You can find out more on their Twitter account.

:bulletblack: The Graffiti Poetry Project wants you to get physical with your words. :eyes: =Osiristhrasher06 has created a blog for the project where you can find more information.

:bulletblue: "Two-Bit Magazine is a publication dedicated to exposing unpublished, talented writers and artists. We are looking to build an eclectic body of work ranging from short fiction and non-fiction of any genre or mode, to poetry, serialized novels and novellas, to graphic novels and comics. We will also accept academic work, reviews, essays, and the like. If it is of the written word and of great worth, it has a place in Two-Bit." You can find more information on their website.

:bulletblack: DevianceZine is a completely dA based art and literary magazine that's in need of help and submissions from the community. Find out more at =DEVIANCE-ZINE.

:bulletblue: "Maverick Magazine is a brand new online publication that is currently recruiting writers of poetry, prose and informative articles. If your writing has been previously rejected for publication for "not fitting in", or you are a new writer looking to display your work for the first time, Maverick has a place for you." Find out more on Maverick Magazine's website.

:bulletblack: Clearfield Review is headed up by our very own ^fllnthblnk. It features poetry, prose, and art from quite a few dA faces as well as from writers and artists from Will's corner of the world. Find out more Clearfield Review's website.

:bulletblue: "Foundling Review is an online literary magazine that wants to give you an opportunity to publish your best work. What makes us different? Nothing much. We hold PhD and Masters degrees in areas that are totally unrelated to fine arts. But we love reading, writing, and have an overwhelming passion for the well-crafted word." Read more at Foundling Review's About Page.

:bulletblack: Curator Magazine is a uniquely interactive literary and art magazine/blog that aims to present the world "as it ought to be". Read up about the mission on their About page.

:bulletblue: Georgetown Review is a college based literary magazine that accepts submissions of poetry and short prose. They also hold an annual contest with a $1,000 prize. Learn about it on their submissions page.

:bulletblack: Bottom of the World Magazine is another that's headed by one of our own - ~fm-vorassi. They feature primarily prose, though an occasional poem does sneak into the batch. Read up about it on their Submissions Guidelines page.

:bulletblue: *DistinctLiterature is a completely dA based literary magazine that accepts poetry and short prose. They'll be releasing their sophomore issue soon. Get your submissions in by the 31st of October! Read more on their Submissions journal.
