Welcome to this week’s volume of so we heard you liek emotes. This is the 51st volume in a weekly series aimed towards promoting emote and emoticonists from the dA community. It features emotes posted within the past week from both well known and new emoticonists, as well as featuring some other great emote projects and contests.

Super volley revamp is yet another truly outstanding emoticon by ^CookiemagiK which really leaves me speechless and reassures me he’s not lost any of his magik

:anythinggood?...nope: by `capncraka is another awesome emoticon with smooth animation and great perspective work

This week seems to have produced a great range of awesome emotes, another being purple sword FTW by =Kermodog. Both the dirt and sword effects have been created exceptionally well to make another jawdropping emote.

I really couldn’t stop giggling at :3-d: by *dutchie17 It combines an amusing idea with great shading to make an adorable emoticon.

5.
YMCA by ~barleypie is an extremely cute and well animated emoticon made by a relatively new emoticonist with great potential.

Emote Codes

One of the great things about dA is the easy ability to post legend emotes and avatars around the site simply by typing the code between 2 colons. However at times this can be frustrating and annoying, especially when trying to teach new deviants about the system. However there is a bit of simple knowledge that can be used to help you out.

On dAmn

On dAmn this can be solved very easily. When posting a line of text simply hold either the shift key or the ctrl key while you press enter and the code will appear as :hug: as opposed to the emote

If you are using the multi-line input only the shift key works in this case

This can be very useful however it does come with a downside. All emotes, icons, :dev: links, html tags and thumb codes will appear as codes rather than in their normal form. Also, for emotes on the Zikes script all codes will appear similar to :thumb99639956: rather than :squee:

html tags

The other method requires a bit more input but does allow you to control what shows as a :code: and what shows normally. For this you simply have to use a html tag (e.g <b> <i> )

By entering a piece of html code such as <b></b> somewhere into the code it breaks it so it displays in the :code: format. For example:

:<b></b>hug: -> :hug:

This also works for the icons code and is useful for demonstrating plz accounts

:<b></b>iconwavesplz: -> :iconwavesplz:

This method generally works better as long as you correctly input the tags. Also remember that the placement can be important in some cases, for example breaking the code :petting: by doing et<b></b>ting: still leaves the ( :p ) at the beginning. Therefore it’s best to always place the tags between the starting colon and first letter
