I know some may see this as an issue only for BBW models, but really think about it, how many of you have gotten comments that were not helpful in any way, just hurtful, rude and cruel.
I know we can not regulate manners but I think the difference between critiquing someones work and insulting them personally needs to be addressed

Google Chrome EULA warning

=MrThunderfield:iconMrThunderfield: reports, 1d 15h ago
You might have heard about Googles new web browser Chrome. But people who really read the EULA found out something rather disturbing: Google gets the rights to everything you create or publish with Chrome. So before we get further info about this, I wouldn't recommend submitting deviations with Chrome.

Weekly Art School Review #2

~maxpower:iconmaxpower: reports, March 31, 2003
Savannah's website, states this as their mission:
'The goal of the Savannah College of Art and Design is to nurture and cultivate the unique qualities of each student through an interesting curriculum, in an inspiring environment, under the leadership of involved professors.

The college exists to prepare talented students for careers in the visual and performing arts, design, the building arts and the history of art and architecture. The college emphasizes learning through individual attention in a positively oriented environment.'

SCAD is widely known throughout the world as a school that produces many world class artists in a broad range of techniques. Many areas of study are offered at SCAD, including: animation, architecture, architectural history, art history, broadcast design, fashion, fibers, film and television, furniture design, graphic design, historic preservation, illustration, industrial design, interactive design and game development, interior design, media and performing arts, metals and jewelry, painting, photography, sequential art, sound design and visual effects. Minors are offered in each of the major programs as well as in dance, decorative arts, drawing, electronic design, interaction design, museum studies, printmaking, sculpture, sound design and writing.

With such a broad range of techniques each students learn from many different perspectives of art. So much knowledge of the art world is packed into this school!
Small classes and world class facilities are among the many perks to SCAD. The faculty is very well known and also very numerous, and the more people you learn from, the better.

Savannah's tuition is pricey, but not as expensive as many of the art schools around the United States. A years tuition will run you roughly around $18,000.

The application process is like many other schools. A standard application along with optional reviews. A portfolio/research paper/audition tape or video is not required for undergraduate/transfer student admission. It is recommended that students submit a portfolio/research paper/audition tape or video to strengthen the application and for scholarship consideration or transfer of credit. Advanced Placement (AP) credit is given in various areas. Students must recieve a '5' on their AP exam in order to receive credit.

SCAD also has more of a campus life than other schools. The school participates in NCAA Division 3 sports and also offers many clubs and organizations. Savannah itself is a great city that embraces the arts with a passion. Many art festivals and galleries populate the area and it is truly a great place for an artist to study in.

If you are looking for a great art school with a fun environment, check SCAD as it is among the elite of America's art schools.

I just wonder how you review an art school...? Do you study there? Or are you just making a summary of what you see in their web site and what you heard?

Just wondering... :) (Smile)

word, just read through your first two installments. i find this to be a great idea especially in a place like this where im sure plenty of people are planning to, or would like to, attend an art school. i am currently going to the art institute of california - san francisco and like it a whole lot for a multitude of reasons. i had a hard time trying to decide where i was going to goto school, i looked at SCAD and at Gnomon (not sure how big gnomon is, but its in hollywood and had some small yet impressive facilities) as well as the Academy of Art in SF and finally AiCa-SF. I cant wait to see what other schools you cover, and once again congrats on the great idea! itll help out alot of people im sure.

I've attended SCAD for two years now. Great place. If you're looking for Computer arts of Sequential, this is a wonderful school. Illustration however, I've heard a lot of negitive thoughts from kids in it.

What isn't mentioned, lousy buses and a higher level of crimes. Few weeks ago we had two students held up at gun point, their apartment robbed and car stolen. SCAD did offer them rooms and free meal plan for the rest of the quater though.

Otherwise, nice summary there Maxpower. I wole heartly agree with what was said.

Nice - but what makes this better than any other?
Are you just reviewing schools because it's in front of you?
Or is there a motive and direction these school reviews are taking?
Are they top in their state? Top in their professors?
Just a curious University student attending NSCAD in Halifax. :) (Smile)

I have a friend who got a full ride scholorship there for computer generated artwork. He deserves it, the boy is freaking amazing. Blows my mind to see him work...nice to hear something about the mysterious school that snapped him up two years ago.
