Goku — Dragon Ball Z Collection for Inspiration

~chandan20j:iconchandan20j: reports, 2d 16h ago
Goku is a fictional character and the main protagonist of the Dragon Ball franchise created by Akira Toriyama. He first appears in the manga chapter Bulma and Son Goku first published in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on December 3, 1984. Goku has starred in most of the episodes, films, and specials of the anime series Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT.

Goku is usually recognized by his uniquely styled hair, which never changes its length throughout the series except when in his Super Saiyan forms, in which his hair changes color and length based on the level he ascends to. This is explained by Vegeta to be a common characteristic of full-blooded Saiyans. Due to his devotion to Earth, Goku prefers dressing in a “gi” uniform, and has refused offers to adorn the Saiyan battle fatigues, being that he considers himself an Earthling.

On a personal note, I have been seeing the series since 1999 and Goku is my favorite character ever.
In this post we are posting images that will show you variations in the character, expression and appearance in Goku and also along with him other famous characters like vegeta, gohan and chi-chi.

A call for DA Comic Artists: Indy Comic Book Week

^Thiefoworld:iconThiefoworld: reports, October 21, 2009

Indy Comic Book Week

Indy Comic Book Week is not only an event, but also a call to action.

Diamond Comic Distributors announced they will not ship any new comics for the last week of December. This company is the primary distributor of comic books in North America. What some would call a sad week without our favorite mainstream titles, we are calling an opportunity. This vacancy allows independent and small press comic book creators to claim this week as their own.

We challenge writers and artists to self publish new material for this week, and offer it to their local stores. We ask for retailers to take this as an opportunity to showcase local independent talent on the new release shelves. We encourage fans to break from their buying habits and try something new.

Raise your fist and proudly declare that comic books are more than an industry, more than a handful of corporations – it is a creative outlet for independent-minded artists and storytellers. This last week of 2009 belongs to you. Power to the people. Right on.

For more information check out the Indy Comic Book Week official website: indycomicbookweek.com

It may be tough for a lot of people to get their comics printed in quantity between now and the first week of December, even if the book is already done.

Do you have proof that they are the "primary" publisher of comics? What about all those other companies in the country?

I heard about this news before (the Digital Strips blog talked about it a week ago), but it's another result of the recession. It sounds like a fantastic opportunity, but I don't know if I'll have the time to produce AND publish something, although I DO have some ideas!

To bad I don't have the cash to go into printing again, it cost a lot to print enough quality books to make it worth while. *sighs*

Diamond isn't the primary publisher, but they ARE the primary distributor. They Distribute for every major comic publisher in the US. Dark Horse, Image, Marvel, DC. You name it, Diamond ships it. Hope you can get something done for the event. If you decide to email us at the site!

It's a tight turn around to be sure. We've been spreading the word as fast as possible since August. Keep in mind that a mini comic or some such is just as good. We just want quality indy books on the shelves that week.

Hehe, One thing at a time. We're doing a week specifically to take advantage pf Diamond's skip in shipping. Provided it does well and the event gains some momentum we might consider doing it again and expanding it.
