Chances are, every September-November, you start to feel that autumn mood. You can't put your finger on it, but it's distinct, unique, almost tangible. When you visit your favourite coffee shop on a rainy day, curl up with a novel, hear a leaf crunch under your feet to the smell of woodsmoke from a distant house, or watch the raindrops run down your window from the coziness of your bed, it's there.

What is this feeling, exactly? How can it be described? Sometimes it doesn't take anything, just the fact that it is autumn, the time of warmth, of introspection, of preparing for the long slow sleep of winter. There's nothing else like it in the world.

In celebration of this season and feeling, I've spent the past two months gathering this breathtaking collection of autumn photography. There's something for every aspect of the season, to suit everyone's taste. Many have received far less recognition than they deserve, so take some time to open each and appreciate its beauty.
