The Cause

DeviantART has partnered with FAIR (Freedom, Action, Inclusion, Rights) to help promote equality through The Love Unites Shepard Fairey Equality Project. We're asking our members to align themselves with this cause through their passion and creativity, and have their work judged by renowned artist, Shepard Fairey, in the process.

FAIR, with its finger on the pulse of our generation’s passion and potential, is revolutionizing what it means to be young and active. Stepping up after the passage of Proposition 8 (the California state proposition banning same-sex marriage) to galvanize tomorrow’s leaders, FAIR emerged as a grassroots force. The group brings together the skills, passion, and determination of a collection of young professionals from diverse backgrounds committed to the struggle for equality. FAIR has given the movement a visible face, image, and message. On November 15th, 2008, FAIR’s first event brought, in less than a week, 15,000 people to City Hall, and asked Shepard Fairey to create the "Love Unites" image – now a unifying symbol at equality events across the globe. Working to create a tangible shift in California’s marriage equality movement, FAIR embodies and empowers a new generation to claim equality and freedom as their own; and, with pop culture street cred backing it up, wages war on homophobia.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners will get their designs printed on high quality, totally sweet 4" × 6" Sticker Robot stickers! These stickers will likely end up plastered all over cities around the world, so it’s a great way to get your work seen.

The Judging

Your work will be judged on the basis of Creative Interpretation of the Original "Love Unites" Design and Technical Skill.

20 Semi-Finalists will be chosen by full-time deviantART staff.

From those 20 Semi-Finalists, 6 will be chosen by staff from FAIR.

The final winners will be chosen by world famous artist Shepard Fairey!

In order for any winning entry to be made available as a sticker, you must have a "Sticker Version" copy of your entry available in the following format: 2:3 ratio (being able to be resized to 4"x6"), CMYK format, and 300 dpi minimum. A Sticker Version of the Work is not a requirement for entry.
